Handmade Wedding Stationary

Handmade Wedding Stationary - submitted by Candice Lighty

craftywedding2.jpgIf you or someone you know is getting married - put those scrapbooking supplies to good use - make your own wedding stationery!  Not only can you customize your invitations and paper items to match your wedding - it's a great way to save money on your wedding. I designed this set for my niece's recent wedding.  Her flowers were tulips and her colors were lavender and white - so I was able to truly customize her stationery just for her.

I started with the invitation to set the tone for the rest of the items.  The invitation was done simply by folding a piece of 8.5" X 11" cardstock in half - the invitation wording was printed on the inside of the invitation using my computer's printer.  The card front was done using textured lavender cardstock. The tulips on the front were cut using my Cricut Personal Electronic Cutter (an electronic die cutter or any other die cutting system is nice to have on these projects which require numerous cuts of the same shape) - I also used some Stickles glitter glue on all the flowers to give them some sparkle.  I did some machine stitching around the edges of the white backgrounds before I adhered the card front to the card.  I tied all the bows by hand and then applied them with a glue dot.

Once we knew how many guests were going to be at the wedding, I started on the favor boxes.  I used my Cricut machine for this project as well to cut out all the boxes in lavender to match the color of the wedding.  If you don't have a machine to cut out the boxes, you can buy them pre-made at most craft stores - then decorate them to match the wedding.  I also put glittered tulips on these to match the invitations and then tied a tag on the boxes that had the couples names and the date of the wedding. We filled the little boxes with candy and mints for the guests.

The final part of the project is a simple "Thank You" card for the couple to send out after the wedding,  I used the same shade of lavender cardstock as well as the tulips to tie the thank you cards in with the rest of the stationery.

Enjoy and best wishes to all the happy couples out there!!
