Make Your Own Background Paper

Sometimes I just don't want to use my cardstock to make backgrounds for my scrapbook pages. I went looking for a way to make my own background paper and although I found many ways to do this I will explain one method here; using chalk, it was really easy to do and produced some very nice results. Here is how you do it:

To make your own background paper using chalks, fill a dishpan with water. Use a plastic knife to scrape flecks of chalk into the water. Three to four different colors work best. Lightly swirl the chalk in the water. Place a sheet of plain copy paper on top of the water. Remove paper and hang until it stops dripping. Use a dry iron to press the paper, color side down, until dry. Any types of chalk will work, I used my daughter's sidewalk chalk

Enjoy!
