Acrylic Gesso Recipe
I have never tried making my own Gesso, but, I know some people would love to add that to their creative art making. I have found some great recipes, and would like to share them with you. Below you will find a few links to sites that have the recipes and all the instructions.
Gesso is considered a ground. The ground is the prepared painting surface and for egg tempera this should be a traditional gesso. This gesso is a mixture of some form of whiting (chalk, gypsum, marble dust or titanium oxide), rabbitskin glue and water.
Acrylic gesso is not so absorbent and is certainly not chemically compatible with egg tempera.
