Jars – Reloaded!
I am realizing the potential for altering objects. Just about anything can be altered; wine glasses, recipe boxes, bowls, cups, paper bags, glass jars, picture frames and cigar boxes. It makes me keep my eyes open for all kinds of alterable household items. Now, it does not have to be completely unrecognizable by completion, just adding a little ribbon around something can add some flavor and character. Have you ever tried embellishing a paper bag?, that is fun. I went to target and got some cute little brown paper bags, some raffia, used my daughters paints and went to town.
Here are some glass jars that were altered with some colorful ribbons, tags, and even a little journaling; crossing-over into the scrapbooking arena. Some cork tops completes these dazzling jars. Jars are found everywhere around the house and most of us don't even realize it and just throw them away. They don't even have to be made of glass, such as, pasta canisters, breadsticks jars, peanut butter jars, jelly belly canisters from Costco, mayonnaise; yes these are even coming in plastic jars. The list goes on and on, take a look in your cupboard you will see what I mean. Some glass jars that we don't even think about can include salsa bottles, mustard jars, juice bottles, and pasta sauce jars and artichoke jars. Just clean up and they are prepped and ready to be altered.
These can make perfect gifts for friends; fill them with your favorite bath soap crystals, make embellished candy jars for kids, or fill them with a cookie recipe. Measure out the recipe for chocolate chip cookies and layer it in in your embellished jar, perfect for the holidays!
