Fourth of July Scrapbook Layouts

Well, the 4th of July came and went and for that matter so did July. We had some great layouts submitted that are great for duplicating at home with all those great pictures you took for the 4th of July. Here are some that our design team member Candice submitted.

I just couldn't resist these adorable pictures of my youngest son from the Fourth of July - so with the holiday fresh in my mind - I decided to go ahead and scrap my pictures.  Both of these layouts were done from the same set of pictures - but both have a different tone to them.  The first LO has a more serious and nostalgique tone while the second has a more fun and contemporary feel to it.  It's really all about how you look at your pictures and what sort of feeling you want someone to get out of your layout.

"CELEBRATE FREEDOM"

The background paper on this first layout is from Karen Foster Design and the paper that was used to create the mat for the picture is by The Paper Studio.  I use my sewing machine to do some decorative stitching around the edges.  The title was cut using my Cricut Personal Electronic Cutter - I used a Cat's Eye Fluid Chalk ink pad in Dark Brown to add a distressed look to the letters and the picture mat.   The sparkler-looking stars are die cuts from my Cricut cut - I cut them out and then applied Stickles glitter glue to each one.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY USA"

I mixed two different patterned papers by the Paper Studio to create the background for this layout.  I cut 2 inches off the stars paper and then adhered it to the striped paper - I did some decorative stitching with my sewing machine to hide the seams.  The title was cut using my Cricut Personal Electronic Cutter - I added some interest to the title by mixing up the direction of the letters - this way also a space saver too.  The stars on the right-hand border of the layout were cut using my Cricut.  To create the picture border on the other side - I just lined up three 3X4 inch pictures to create the border.  I think the buttons really make the page though…buttons are a hot trend in papercrafting right now - but you don't have to spend a lot on them - look for bulk buttons sold in the fabric department of your craft store - that is where the buttons on this layout came from.  I laid out my button pattern first on the page and then adhered each button with a glue dot.  I also used a few buttons on my star border to tie the page together.
