Commemorative Air Force
This layout was somewhat challenging in that I really wanted to find a paper that went well with the planes. I finally found some great design here with AtoZ’s paper. The stars in it accent the stars in the hangar and on some of the planes. This was a trip to Austin that I took last summer…it’s taken me that long to find a paper I really liked! If you look at my other layouts, you’ll notice that I like simple but pizzazzy, so here’s what I did. I used rubons to point to the name of the planes, tore the edges of the matting, punched out some big stars and doodled on them. I inked the edges with a matching brown and added some small circle and star brads, and finally stapled some ribbon to some pictures. My lesson learned: Don’t give up looking for that special paper. Set those pictures aside and I just know that you’ll find a paper eventually that will jump out at you! (Close-up is of the doodled star punch outs I made.)

Road Trip
This is on the road to Austin last summer. I never really got any pictures to document the fun we always have in the car on trips. I wonder if anyone thinks to take those kinds of pictures. I just think it’s hilarious to recapture those feelings of being in the car. This layout is our typical road trip scene…my husband drives, my stepson, mother-in-law and I talk/play/etc, and my father-in-law sleeps. I absolutely LOVE the 7 Gypsies Stamps. I used them to dot the top background. I used a sticker for the title. For fun, I stamped “FAMILY TOGETHER” and the “Moment” journaling area. A few brads and some cute paper finish this one off for me. I opted to not mat the photos because there are a lot of lines and squiggles on the papers. (Close-up is of the dotted circles I made using the 7 Gypsies stamp.)

Mom
My mother recently visited with me over the 4th of July and I really wanted to do a layout to help me keep that I’m-so-glad-you’re-my-mom feeling. Creative Imaginations has this pretty mauvy-pink mother paper that I just loved, so I started with that. Because it has words and phrases all over it, I didn’t want to overdo the layout. Some simple color-blocking worked well for me to keep it simple. Jazzing it up was easy by just adding a few flowers and a tied ribbon. I made a special note “The Best Mom in the World” to make me smile extra big every time I look at this layout. A cute punch highlights the text. (Close up is of the punch and the text, a Creating Keepsakes font named CK Fashion (I think).
