Kids of all ages enjoy doing Easter crafts. Working on a craft is an excellent way to have some fun, while adding a creative touch to the holiday season.

An easy and fun craft to make is a jelly bean carrot. For this craft you will need some orange jelly beans, a clear, disposable icing bag, Easter grass and a twist tie or rubber band. Fill the icing bag with the jelly beans. Make sure that you leave enough room at the top so that you can close the bag with the rubber band or twist tie. However, before you close the bag at the top, add some of the grass. Then, you will want to close the bag at the top. Make sure that you get the grass, so that it won't fall out. When you are finished, you can tie a small ribbon around the top of the carrot. You then have a decorative carrot that you can share with family and friends.

If you are looking for printable crafts, Printable Easter Crafts has a wide variety of crafts you can print out. As well, they have word searches, coloring pages, worksheets and recipes

Another quick and easy craft is bunny ears. For this craft you will need a white poster board, pink construction paper, scissors, pencil, glue and tape or a stapler. If you would like to add some extra special touches to your ears, you will also need Easter stickers and markers or crayons. To begin, you will want to cut a 2 inch wide and 24 inch long strip of poster board. Next, you will want to cut two bunny ears out of the poster board. The ears should be approximately 8 ½ by 3 ½. With the pink construction paper, you will want to cut out two smaller bunny ears. Then, glue the pink ears onto the white ears. Next, glue the ears to the inside of the band. You can then decorate the band if you desire. After you have finished decorating the ears, you can then place the band around your child's head and staple the band together. If you have any excess, you simply cut it off. Your child will love wearing his bunny ears around.

Kids love to make cards. A cute Easter card your child can make is a Thumb Bunny Loves You card. For this, you will need a piece of colorful cardstock. Fold the cardstock in half, to form your card. Next, take some white water based paint and paint your child's thumb. Have him place his thumb print on the paper, to form the ears and face of the bunny. Next, you can take a couple of sequins and glue on for the eyes. Black yarn can be added for the whiskers. Then, either you or your child can write the words Thumb Bunny Loves You on the card. As well, let your child decorate the inside of the card. Family and friends will love receiving this card that will be cherished for a lifetime.

Easter crafts are a fun way to celebrate the holiday, as well as spend time with your child. Let your imagination guide you, as you design some one of a kind pieces of art. Keep in mind that when working with children, the craft doesn't have to be perfect. The whole idea is to simply have fun!

Basic Embroidery Stitches

Working with a sampler is the best manner to learn the basic embroidery stitches. If you will be teaching beginners, the most appropriate way for you to capture their attention is to still their mindsets by utilizing vibrant hues that will unmistakably add life to one's sight. Yes, it is challenging on your end especially that there is not much of an assurance that you can achieve your goal but, you will never know if you choose not to give a shot.

If your students are still in the primary level, DMC threads are the most common brands utilized for basic embroidery stitches. Not just they are cheap, a single strand is also thick so it is not easy to break by bare hands. As for the cloth, select a basket weave where at close glance, it will appear like a jersey. The textile is very ideal because small holes will serve as guidelines for the apprentice to follow. In such manner, the hemming lines would not be crooked.

Back Stitches

There are five basic embroidery stitches namely back stitch, cross stitch, half stitch, quarter stitch and three- quarter stitch.

Back Stitch is utilized to draw lines around. The first thing to do is to locate the center and put a mark. Put the textile inside the hoop and set it aside first. Divide the floss into six strands with a length of twelve to fourteen inches. Do not place the two yarns together instead, insert it in the eye of the needle and knot the tip for closure. From the border of the hoop, count two squares from the middle and press the sharp point beginning at the back going to the front. Bring the needle with the thread right to the next hole and do it all over again.

Three- quarter stitch is done by composing both the half and quarter altogether. Initially, form a square that composes of four boxes close to each other. Sew the quarter by bringing the threaded needle on the lower left portion of the square. Start from the back going to the front and cover the middle area with the yarn in slanting position. As for hemming the half, bring the threaded needle to the lower right portion of the square. Start from the back going to the front and cover the whole area with the yarn in slanting position. Execute both steps until you are done.

The Many Uses of Acrylic Beads

Popularized by hundreds of jewelry and craft stores, the acrylic beads have came out in the market like a special jewelry and art piece. It has been used by thousands of people for jewelry and art purposes, and it's nice to know that just like the rest of the bead materials, the acrylic beads have made great crafts.

The acrylic beads are offered nowadays by a number of craft stores anywhere in the world. The good thing to know about these beading materials is that they are offered inexpensively. Yes, you can find them at pretty reasonable prices. They are noted significantly for their elegance and style, with almost all acrylic beads featuring transparent pieces that glow in different colors and shades. Just like the rest of the beads, they are molded into several shapes, with the most common highlighting simple balls and cubes. The shapes may also range from the basics to the most complicated and delicate forms like skulls, butterflies, and celestial symbols. And being transparent in nature, the acrylic beads are deemed by many beading experts as a great alternative to glass or crystal beads. It is important to note, however, that the acrylic beads tend to break easily if handled improperly.

Get Tons of High Quality Low Priced Beads Online

Wondering where you can find sets of acrylic beads? If yes, then note that these materials are now available anywhere in the world, from small to large jewelry and craft stores. Perhaps the most effective and easiest way of finding them is to go online. Of Course the best place to go is right here at Crafty Places online store

Yes, you heard me right. A number of online stores are now offering acrylic beads for the computer users to consider. The beads offered at these portals come in varying prices though, but they come more affordable than those offered offline. It is for this reason that more and more consumers are now using the Internet for their own product searches.

For high quality and well-designed acrylic beads, you can consider Joann.com for any transparent beads. Also, each of their beads sets are marketed at affordable prices, allowing even the budgeted customers to take what they really wanted to have.

You can also go directly to Artbeads.com where hundreds of acrylic beads of different shapes and sizes are offered. The beads featured at this site come in a number of colors, with most of them carefully dyed to achieve the best hues. Several reviews also have it that AuntiesBeads.com carries the boldest designs available for beading.
Wrapping paper is practically a necessity around the holiday season, and making your own can add a special touch to any gift. Hanukkah wrapping paper is simple and fun to make and you can even get children involved as well.

Yes, I know the holiday season is over, but if you feel at all the way I do the holidays get here sooner and sooner every year, so why not get some ideas flowing now? Besides it is still winter and some of you may not have taken your holiday stuff down yet! So, before you throw anything away remember that alot of trimmings can come in handy during your holiday crafting season

The Holiday season is the best time to get creative, and you can save a ton of money by making decorations on your own. There are many great holiday craft ideas that can get the entire family involved, as well as crafts that can double as gifts for friends and other members of your family. You can even create centerpieces for dinner parties, fun ornaments for a tree, or even fun wrapping paper made with your own two hands.

Wrapping paper is practically a necessity around the holiday season, and making your own can add a special touch to any gift. Hanukkah wrapping paper is simple and fun to make and you can even get children involved as well. All you need is some plain construction or wrapping paper, finger paint, and two clean hands. Dip two hands into blue paint, and press them onto the wrapping paper. Make sure the thumbs are overlapping, so there will be nine fingers showing on the paper and the thumbs will act as the center candle. After washing the blue paint off, dip a thumb into yellow paint and dab it on top of each candle for a flame. Repeat until the paper has several menorahs on it. Allow the paint to dry, and start wrapping your presents!

Sock snowmen are another great holiday craft idea that children love to do, and then can be used as tree decorations or can be hung up on the wall. You can use different sized socks to make different sized snowmen, but the easiest to start out with is baby socks. Take a plain baby sock, and fill it with plain stuffing or batting. Tie the sock just above the ankle with string, and cut off the excess material. Divide the sock into the body and the head, and tie with a piece of fabric to act as the scarf. To add a cute hat, use a colored sock and tie the ankle closed with string. Cut off the foot part, and roll up the sock to look like a stocking cap. Glue or sew the hat on, and begin decorating. You can use buttons, pipe cleaners, markers, and much more to make your little snowman, so put on your creativity hat!

If you are looking to create a beautiful centerpiece for a holiday dinner party, all you need is some candy canes, a large red or striped candle, and a candle base large enough for your candle. Place the candle inside the base, and hang then candy canes all around the outside. Guests can help themselves to the candy if they wish, making this great centerpiece a candy dish as well.

A Christmas choir makes a great tabletop piece, and can be made out of items you have laying around your home. Use an empty toilet paper roll and paper towel roll, and you can create three singing carolers that can brighten up any room. Cut the paper towel roll into two lengths, and paint each of the three pieces a different color. Use a small oval cut out of construction paper to make a face, and markers or crayons to decorate. Small pieces of sheet music can be attached with glue to add a special touch, and a cut sock can double as a stocking cap that sits right on top of the tube. These little Christmas choir cuties look great on any table, or can even be hung up as ornaments on your tree.

The possibilities are endless when it comes to Holiday craft ideas, and getting your family involved can make it so much fun. Instead of buying all your decorations from a superstore this year, spend the time with your family and create some fun crafts and great memories at the same time.

Scrapbook Layout: Goal Submitted by Stacy Brunner

This layout was born from the thoughts in my head as I browsed a catalog. There was a pair of shoes on the back cover that made me swoon. But alas, they were priced well outside what I would consider paying for shoes. And since I had a baby in July, it occurred to me that I wouldn't even be able to wear my cute skirts that would match these shoes until the pregnancy weight comes off.

So to inspire myself to reach my weight loss goal, I made a scrapbook page of the shoes. This was backwards thinking for me. I normally scrap what has been or what really happened. I have never scrapped a wish, a hope, a dream, or a goal. I think, "What if I don't make it? Then my failure will be documented for all the world and future generations to see." But for this one, I swallowed my pride and put myself out there. Having this page will inspire me. And if I do fail and don't want to be reminded of it, I just tear up the page and throw it away. Sure, that sounds really mature, but it gave me enough courage to make the page.

The title, "Goal", is cut from a sheet of letter stickers. These letters were used on other projects, so I just used the outline that remained. The effect is a subtle, ghost-like letter. The shape of each letter is not perfect, making them organic and whimsical (my words for things that are bent, broken, messed-up, and otherwise wrong in some way).

The blue paper behind the catalog page is wrapping paper from one of the baby gifts. It had a beautiful sheen and texture, so I saved it. While it would lend itself well to a baby layout, it serves here to remind me why I have this goal. It's a reminder that my body served me very well in producing a healthy baby boy and I should be grateful for it, no matter what size.

I added some stamped swirls and patterned paper to complete the design. I wrote the journaling in my own handwriting to enforce the commitment to the goal. When I make the goal, I can come back to this page and add a photo of myself in the shoes. It will be a page that stands the test of time. And hopefully, the lovely page can avoid the trash.
